# ConfigBot for ServiceNow - Dependency + Risk Analysis

Dependency + Risk Analysis enables you to track dependent object configurations and assess potential risks before making instance-level modifications. For example, before deleting a custom field or updating a dropdown value, you can quickly view all impacted configuration items, ensuring accurate and efficient change management.   
The following article explains how to track records in a smooth way through dependency + Risk analysis   

**Step 1: Log in to ConfigBot** 

Enter your **username** and **password**, then click **Submit** to access the portal.

**Step 2: Access the Dependency + Risk Analysis Module** 

From the **Home Screen**, click on the Dependency + Risk Analysis Module tile

**Step 3: Select a Workspace** 

Choose the workspace that best fits your needs.

**Step 4: Create a New Iteration** 

Click the **Add Iteration** button

* Enter the **Iteration Number** 
* Select the **Workspace** 
* Enter **Host Address** 
* Choose the **Instance Type** 
* Enter your **Company ID** and **Username** 
* Add a short **Description**  
* Then click **Submit** to create the iteration.

**Step 5: Prepare Workbook for config sheet** 

Click the **Hamburger Menu** and select **Generate Workbook**. 
In the pop-up window: 

* Enter your **ServiceNow instance password** 
* Add any **execution notes** 
* Select the checkbox for Workbook Intellisence 
Then click **Confirm and Start** to prepare sheet.

**Step 6: Monitor Progress** 

Click the **Information (ℹ️) icon** to track your iteration’s progress.

**Step 7: Enter Config Data&#160;** 

Once the status shows **Complete**, open the generated workbook. 
Within the workbook: 
* Go to the **Config** worksheet tab. 
* In the Table Name column select the desired table i.e. HR Case 
* In Field Name column, write the field name for which you want to generate the data such as opened_for, opened_by, assigned_to,  and collaborators.

* Close workbook 
 
**Step 8: Generate Workbook** 

Click the **Hamburger Menu** and select Rerequest Process.

Again, Click the **Hamburger Menu and select Generate Workbook**.

In the pop-up window: 
* Enter your **ServiceNow instance password** 
* Add any **execution notes** 
* Select the checkbox for **Select All** 
Then click **Confirm and Start**

**Step 9: Monitor Progress** 

Click the **Information (ℹ️) icon** to track your iteration’s progress.

**Step 10: Review Results** 

Once the status shows **Complete**, open the generated workbook.

Navigate to the Impacted Objects sheet. You can see the table and fields we added in config and related dependent objects,

Now we can separately see the acting rules on respective fields by navigating each sheet, clicking on the record link to see that rule in the instance.

The reverse search instantly showed me all the dependent items connected to those fields. From the results, I could see exactly which **Business Rules or Script Include UI Policy or related records** were running on a particular field.  So instead of manually digging through each record, Dependency and Risk Analysis gave me a direct map of the relationships, saving me a huge amount of time and effort.
