ConfigBot WD - How to add and update Domain security permissions in Security.
Security – Domain Security
The following article will help to explain how you can provide domain security permissions to Security Groups in Workday through Configbot.
- Enter your Username and Password and click at the submit button to login.
- Navigate towards the "Home screen" and click on the "Security" module tile.
- Select the workspace that best suits your preferences or requirements.
- Navigate to the generated workbook (in my case, Iteration #1) and click the sheet icon.
- Navigate to the worksheet tab labeled as ‘'Domain Security''.
- Select the Functional Area and Domain, provide permissions to security groups from available permissions. Then, set the processing status to Pending for the Security Groups you are assigning permissions to. At the end set the process permission for that Domain to "Yes”.
- Close the workbook and navigate back to ConfigBot. Under the Actions tab for the same iteration number, click the hamburger menu, and select the "Start Configuration" option from the drop-down menu.
- The Start Configuration pop-up window will appear. Enter your Workday password and provide any relevant execution notes. Then, select the checkbox for Domain Security. Finally, click the "Confirm and Start" button.
- You can later click the information icon to monitor the progress of your iteration.
- Once the status shows "Complete," return to the workbook to verify that the Permissions has been successfully updated. The corresponding rows and their fields will be highlighted in green, indicating successful execution. Additionally, the Status of Security Groups will be changed to "Processed” And Processing Permission for Domain will be changed to No.
- To confirm the changes made, navigate to “Domain Security Configuration” window by searching it through the search bar in Workday Home page. Enter your Functional Area and Domain, then click OK.
- You can view the Security Groups for Functional Area and Domain in accordance to permissions granted such as View-only, Modify, Put etc.
- Additional information can be accessed by clicking the ellipsis (three dots) in the top menu, depending on your access permissions.
This confirms a successful execution where a new Domain Security Permissions were Assigned to New Security Groups or existing Security Groups of different functional areas in the Security module using ConfigBot, ensuring accurate data transfer and configuration within Workday.
