Earnings and Deduction - Deduction Groupings.


The following article will help explain on how you can add or update a Deduction Groupings in Dayforce through ConfigBot.



  1.     Enter your Username and Password and click at the submit button to login.



  1.     Navigate towards the "Home screen" and click on the "Earnings and Deductions" module tile under Payroll Setup.



  1.     Select the workspace that best suits your preferences or requirements.


  1.  Navigate to the workbook (in my case, Iteration #1) and open the workbook.



  1. The workbook will appear in a new tab on your browser. Navigate to the worksheet tab labeled Deduction Groupings.



  1. Enter the required data across the following columns:
  • Reference Code – Enter a unique reference code for the earning grouping.
  • Object Name – Enter the display name of the deduction grouping as it will appear in Dayforce.
  • Category – Select the appropriate category for the earning grouping. Only Custom Category can be used, you cannot create system objects using Configbot.
  • Description – Enter a brief description for internal reference.


You can also add reporting options for an deduction grouping make sure to add data in mandatory fields in the reporting section. Once the data is added set the processing to pending





  1.   Close the workbook and navigate back to ConfigBot. Under the Actions tab for the same iteration number, click the hamburger menu, and select the "Start Configuration" option from the drop down menu. In the configuration window add your dayforce instance password, add any relevant notes then select Deduction Groupings check box and click at confirm and start button to process Execution.



  1. You can later click the information icon to monitor the progress of your iteration.



  1. Once the status shows "Complete," return to the workbook to verify that the Deduction groupings is created. The corresponding rows and their fields will be highlighted in green, indicating successful execution. Additionally, the Processing Status for particular rows will be changed to "Processed”.





  1. Navigate to your Dayforce instance to confirm the changes. Under Deduction Groupings, you’ll see the newly created Deduction Grouping and the data in other sections is successfully automated, which confirms successful execution.
