ConfigBot DF - How to Create new Role and Assign Features to it

Roles - Roles and Roles Features

The following article will help to explain how you can create a new role and assign features to it in Dayforce through Configbot.

  1.     Enter your Username and Password and click at the submit button to login.

  1.     Navigate towards the "Home screen" and click on the "Roles" module tile under System Admin.

  1.     Select the workspace that best suits your preferences or requirements.

  1.  Navigate to the workbook (in my case, Iteration #3) and open the workbook.

  1.     The workbook will appear in a new tab on your browser. Navigate to the worksheet tab labeled ‘Roles’.

  1.   Enter the Unique Reference Code for the role you are creating, then add Role name, Description and other relevant details make sure you fill all fields which are mandatory. Once done set the processing status to "Pending".

  1. Now navigate to the Role Features sheet. Add a new column and enter the name of the new role you’re creating, and set its status to Pending. In the left section, you can see the available permissions related to each feature—set the Process permission to Yes for the permissions you want to assign to this role. Then, in the role section, set each permission to True or False:

  • True will give access to that specific child feature and parents of the child.
  • False will uncheck only that child feature, not the parent.

  1.   Close the workbook and navigate back to ConfigBot. Under the Actions tab for the same iteration number, click the hamburger menu, and select the "Start Configuration" option from the dropdown menu.

  1. The Start Configuration pop-up window will appear. Enter your Dayforce password and provide any relevant execution notes. Then, select the checkboxes for Roles and Role Features. Finally, click the "Confirm and Start" button.

  1. You can later click the information icon to monitor the progress of your iteration.

  1. Once the status shows "Complete," return to the workbook to verify that the Role is created and Features are assigned to it. The corresponding rows and their fields will be highlighted in green, indicating successful execution. Additionally, the Processing Status for particular rows will be changed to "Processed”.

  1. Navigate to your Dayforce instance to confirm the changes. Under Roles, you’ll see the newly created role “Assistant Sub Admin” and the child feature 1095c assigned to it, which we set to True during automation

This confirms a successful execution where a new Role was added and features were assigned in Roles Module using ConfigBot, ensuring accurate data transfer and configuration within Dayforce.
