ConfigBot For Dayforce - User Manual


Introduction

ConfigBot is an automation tool designed to simplify configuration tasks within Dayforce.

It helps in managing workspaces, workbooks, and configuration execution across multiple Dayforce modules.

 

 

1.   Platform & Navigation Overview

 

1.1  ConfigBot Home Icon: Always returns you to the main dashboard.

 

 


 

1.2 – Favorites: Quick Access your most used modules from favorites, click at the star icon to add any module to the favorites.

 


 

1.3- My Profile: Access options to reset your password, edit your personal details and set your preferred time zone.

 


 

1.4 Workspace Button: Opens the Workspaces view, where you can create, edit, delete, or share workspaces.

 


 

1.5. Module Menus / Tiles: Easily navigate to modules like OrgSetup/HR Admin, Employees, Roles, Pay Setup, Shift Setup or Earnings and Deductions, either via drop down menus or module tiles.





2.  Iterations

Iterations: An iteration represents a specific work effort initiated by the user. Within an iteration, users access Workbooks and take actions. Each row is its own iteration.

Key Iteration Elements:

2.1.  Add New Iteration

2.2.  Iteration #, Instance Type, Host, Company ID, and Description are all editable via the Pen icon in the Actions Menu

2.3.  Sheet – Link to Configuration Workbook hosted on Google Sheets.

2.4.  Status – Execution status: Ready to Go, Complete, or Error

2.6.  Breadcrumbs – Links showing navigation steps

 

 

3.  Workspaces

Workspaces: Workspaces are collections of iterations, grouped by Quarter, Company, User, Instance, etc.

 

Key Workspace Elements:

3.1.  Add New Workspace

3.2.  Workspaces displayed in tiles, clickable to access iterations

3.3.  Edit, Delete, Archive and Share Workspace (sharing available for authorized ConfigBot company users).

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

4.  Actions Menu

The Actions Menu includes the major actions users take when working with ConfigBot:

4.1 Edit: Edit Iteration details (useful for migrating changes)

4.2 Delete: Deletes iteration link (workbook remains on Google Drive)

4.3 Clone: Clone an iteration or an entire workbook

4.4 Share: Share iterations with team members

4.5 Show Progress: View execution details, logs, and errors

4.6 Hamburger Menu: Access functions like Generate Workbook, Start Configuration, Start Validation, Workbook Health Check, Compare Iterations.

 

 

5.  Show Progress

The Show Progress window tracks ConfigBot’s execution. Key elements include:

5.1.  Action Type and Execution Notes

5.2.  Username used for execution

5.3.  Status: Ready to Go, Complete, Error

5.4.  Executed by – User who initiated the run

5.5.  Execution time

5.6.  Tracking ID Request – for support tickets

5.7.  Export/Refresh/Carrot – manage log reports

5.8.  Log Reports – Detailed execution logs

 

 

 


 

6.  Hamburger Menu

Options include:

6.1- Request Reprocess: Refresh iteration without changes

6.2- Generate Workbook: Generate a configuration workbook (execution may take 1-6 hours)

6.3 - Start Configuration: Apply changes from workbook to instance

6.4 - Start Validation: Validate workbook against instance (faster than regeneration)

6.5 - Compare Iterations: Compare two iterations/workbooks, highlighting differences

6.6- Check Instance: Check Instance makes sure you’re connected to the correct Dayforce environment before applying any configurations.

 

 


 

 

 

 


 

 

7.  Workbooks

Workbooks document instance configurations and streamline workflow.

 

7.1 Processing Status:

· Processed: No longer waiting for execution

· Pending: Ready for execution

 

 

 


 

 

 

 

 

7.2 Other Workbook Features:

· Dividers: Visual separators for information categories

· Process Status Object ID: Allows status changes per item

· Process Status Column: Passed/Pending dropdowns for items

 



7.3 Workbook Types:

· No Processing Status

· Process Status Per Row

· Divider/Named Item/Process Status Column

· Divider/Named Item/Segment/Process Status Column

· Divider/Process Status Per Column
