ConfigBot for ServiceNow - Dependency + Risk Analysis

Dependency + Risk Analysis enables you to track dependent object configurations and assess potential risks before making instance-level modifications. For example, before deleting a custom field or updating a dropdown value, you can quickly view all impacted configuration items, ensuring accurate and efficient change management.

The following article explains how to track records in a smooth way through dependency + Risk analysis

Enter your username and password, then click Submit to access the portal.

Step 2: Access the Dependency + Risk Analysis Module

  • Select the Workspace

Within the workbook:

  • In Field Name column, write the field name for which you want to generate the data such as opened_for, opened_by, assigned_to,  and collaborators.

  • Close workbook

Step 8: Generate Workbook

Click the Hamburger Menu and select Rerequest Process.

Again, Click the Hamburger Menu and select Generate Workbook

Then click Confirm and Start

Step 9: Monitor Progress

Click the Information (ℹ️) icon to track your iteration’s progress.

Step 10: Review Results

Once the status shows Complete, open the generated workbook.

Navigate to the Impacted Objects sheet. You can see the table and fields we added in config and related dependent objects,

Now we can separately see the acting rules on respective fields by navigating each sheet, clicking on the record link to see that rule in the instance.

The reverse search instantly showed me all the dependent items connected to those fields. From the results, I could see exactly which Business Rules or Script Include UI Policy or related records were running on a particular field.  So instead of manually digging through each record, Dependency and Risk Analysis gave me a direct map of the relationships, saving me a huge amount of time and effort.

Thankyou!
