ConfigBot for ServiceNow - HR & IT Analysis

Manually identifying the associated components working for an HR Service in ServiceNow can be a time-consuming process. Navigating through multiple related tables, scopes, and HR Services often requires repetitive checks and validations.

The HR & IT Analysis Module in ConfigBot for ServiceNow automates the identification of dependencies and related components across both HR and IT services. It provides full visibility into instance configurations, allowing users to retrieve all relevant items independently, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and reduced manual effort.

The following article explains how to use the HR & IT Analysis module in ConfigBot to analyze associated HR Service dependencies.

Step 1: Log in to ConfigBot

Enter your username and password on the login page, then click Submit to access your ConfigBot portal.

Step 2: Access the HR & IT Analysis Module

From the ConfigBot dashboard, navigate to the HR & IT Analysis module tile and click to open it.

Step 3: Create a New Iteration

Click the Add New Iteration button

• Enter the Iteration Number
• Select the Workspace
• Enter Host Address
• Choose the Instance Type
• Enter your Company ID and Username
• Add a short Description
• Then click Submit to create the iteration.

After filling in all details, click Submit to create your iteration.

Step 4: Generate Workbook (Initial Execution)

Once the iteration is created, click on the Hamburger Menu and select Generate Workbook.

In the pop-up window:

• Enter your ServiceNow password
• Add any execution notes (optional)
• Select Workbook Intellisense (to only backfill the data)
• Click Confirm and Start to process execution

This step prepares the workbook with the basic configuration setup.

Step 5: Configure Data in Workbook

After the initial processing is completed:

• Open the generated workbook.
• Navigate to the Config sheet.
• Select the desired Application Scope.
• Based on the selected scope, choose the related tables.
• From those tables, select the specific HR Services you want to analyze.

Step 6: Generate Workbook (Complete Execution)

Once your configuration data is set:

• Return to your iteration in ConfigBot.
• Click the Hamburger Menu again and select Generate Workbook.

In the pop-up window:

• Enter your ServiceNow password
• Add any notes
• Select the Select All checkbox
• Click Confirm and Start to execute

This step generates a detailed workbook including all HR Service dependencies.

Step 7: Monitor Progress

• You can click the Information (ℹ️) icon on your iteration to monitor the processing status in real time. Once the status changes to Complete, proceed to review your results.

Step 8: Review Associated Objects

• Open the completed workbook and navigate to the Impacted Objects worksheet.
• Here you’ll see all the components, configurations, and objects that are associated with and working for your selected HR Service.

This includes dependencies across tables, related records, and configuration relationships, allowing you to validate the full scope of what’s linked to that HR Service in one place.
